Organic Taiwan Red Oolong Tea
Type
Description
Grown in the southeast of Taiwan, in the Taitung region at medium to low altitudes. Compared to regular Oolong, it has a high degree of fermentation and a reddish color with hints of amber. At first glance, red Oolong looks like black tea, but it has a unique smooth, ripe, fruity flavor. It's an appealing tea that can be enjoyed hot or iced. It also pairs well with sweets.
Xuyoni's Anan Tea is 100% organically grown and 100% hand-picked under the expert guidance of Taitung Bunzhang, a Taiwanese tea farmer.
Tasting Note
Ripe fruit flavors
The steeping time is important for a good tea.
Tea steeped for too short a time can be too weak in flavor, whereas the bitter or astringent taste may interfere with the full flavor and aroma from coming out if steeped too long.
*It's best to steep the tea clear first and darken it later; if you steep it dark first and then lighten it, you'll quickly lose the flavor.
How to Drink
HOT
- Add 2-3 grams of tea leaves to 100-150 ml of hot (90+ degrees Celsius, or 200+ degrees Fahrenheit) water and brew the tea.
- First steep (60 seconds): Drink as soon as the rolled tea leaves meet the water and unfold. Depending on your preference, we can increase the time to enjoy a richer, deeper flavor.
- Re-steeping (1 minute and 20 seconds): You can steep the tea several times. Increase the steeping time by 10 seconds each time.
COLD
Chilling tea buds: Add 3-4 grams of tea leaves to 50 ml of boiling water and steep for 1 minute.
Fill a 200ml mug with ice cubes and pour in the brewed tea for a refreshing and invigorating experience.
Cold soak: Add 5 grams of tea leaves to 1.5 liters of room temperature water, place in the refrigerator, and let it steep for 7-8 hours to enjoy the cool tea flavor.
